Empty Bowls hunger-relief event returns to benefit the Houston Food Bank

Empty Bowls, an international hunger relief effort, returns to Houston May 14 after a two-year pandemic hiatus. The event, to be held at the Houston Center for Contemporary Craft, 4848 Main, will take place 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.

More than 1,500 hand-crafted bowls made and donated by local ceramists, wood turners and craft artists, will be available for purchase with all proceeds going to the Houston Food Bank. To date, the event has raised $982,268 for the food bank.

The bowls are priced at $25 each (there are also larger bowls available at higher prices); for every $1 raised the food bank is able to provide three meals for the hungry. The purchase of just one bowl can provide 75 meals for those in need.
